about

Remembrances
The shadow of the memory

Our concept of Central European music can be glimpsed from the ideal of beauty and purpose from the Hellenic, Roman and Jewish worlds, being the phonetics and prosody of each language the technical base in the melodic constructions.
In its translation from vocal to instrumental, the melody, the gesture or design loose the semantics of direct communication and reach a new meaning, purely musical, conditioned by the organology of its instrument and their distinctive features regarding the speed and ornamentation of each period.
Remembrances is a compilation of works from Valencian and Catalan composers, adapted to the Piccolo flute by Paco Varoch. These works can be placed chronologically within more than a century, from the end of the 19th century until the beginning of the 21st.
Despite of the time of creation of its piece, these works are presented with the common aesthetic that give them unity and convert them in a musical collection of poems that gather up the direct or imagined ground of the places and quotidian facts expressed in the most pure state of communication: the Music.
Altogether these pieces present alive resources in the Mediterranean roots through the rhythmical phonetics, the prosody of the language, accentuation, phrasing and ornamentation, all of them united in a particular rhetorical. It is about the elements that convert the piccolo and the piano in beings that talk and make themselves understood in a common language.
In the next musical collection of poems, the Valencian flautist Paco Varoch brings his experience of the time lived immersed in the Mediterranean culture being the memory and the understanding of the main elements that provide coherence to the interpretation of distinctive pieces with a high level of aesthetic difficulty. These works are assumed as a diary of experience in the musician’s vital journey, a well bitten path in multiple directions through the musical works and most representative composers in their ideal aesthetic, pieces presented from the actual maturity to the evocation of the past and common ground in the culture of the people.
